The English fans of Korn were disappointed with the band's last-minute decision not to perform at the European Ozzfest in 1998.
In a press release to the general public, the band explained: "Korn was forced to cancel their performance at Ozzfest because Brian 'Head' Welch and his wife are expecting their first child in the second half of June. It was previously believed that the birth would be in July, but the calculations were wrong. She is now expecting to have the child at any moment. With this in mind, Welch does not intend to travel abroad and be away from his wife at this crucial time, and the band decided not to put another guitarist in his place."
When informed about the reason for the show's cancellation, Ozzy Osbourne reacted, jokingly: "Who did you say is having a baby? The guitarist, or his wife?!"
However, the organizers of Ozzfest wasted no time in finding another 'top name' to replace Korn, and Therapy? was the band that ended up being chosen.
Just a small detail: The baby had not yet been born by the day of the show... 😱
They would be the fourth band on the bill and were one of the main attractions of this year's largest English rock festival. However, just a few days before the festival, the band announced that they would have to cancel their performance. The reason given was that the guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch's wife was about to give birth at any moment. Korn also canceled other performances at various other European festivals.
